Comment: Regarding these verses of supplication requesting the father and sons of the lineage not to pass into nirvana, but to remain in his world: the one written by His Holiness the thirteenth Karmapa was left as it is. Jamgon Lama’s supplication written by the fifteenth Karmapa was slightly altered to make it a long-life prayer. Given these times, I have great hesitation fearing that my own writings may be a hindrance, but surely there is no fault in using these earlier compositions just as they are. So, by the power of the speech of the masters of old, whose utterances are unfailingly accomplished, by the power of our unerring faith and affection, and based on the merit accumulated by the noble father and sons, may their aspirations from previous lives be fulfilled. In this world may the vajra masters and disciples remain in harmony, may all their activity being accomplished just as it is wished, without any obstacles, and may all abide good health and well-being.
